The Labor Commissioner’s Office collected $1,331,682 in wages and penalties from Bakersfield-based subcontractor Grant Construction, Inc. due to a prevailing wage assessment.

27 workers will be compensated for unpaid prevailing wages from a farmworker housing construction project in the City of Wasco in Kern County.

The public works investigation determined that wage theft had occurred in the form of kickbacks and non-reporting of all hours worked by Grant Construction crew leader(s).

The Reaching Every Californian interdisciplinary outreach campaign was launched in 2020 to amplify basic protections and build pathways for affected populations.
